Oh Boy! (named after the Buddy Holly song) was a pop band in the 1980’s of some notoriety on the Chicago music scene.
They were the first artist selected for the Columbia College AEMMP (Arts, Entertainment, Media Mgmt. Program).
In 1986 they were on the Grammy ballot as “Best New Band in the Midwest.”

Oh Boy! would play anywhere, anytime and for anyone.
This found the Oh Boy!’s playing gigs such as an art fest
in a house in Evanston, IL where each room had a different art form.
The living room had paintings, the dining room had sculptures and the front bedroom had a live band - Oh Boy!

Their continuous dues paying and good looks helped develop a following.
They drew the attention of the Columbia College AEMMP Records Program (Arts, Entertainment, Media Mgmt. Program)
a curriculum where students selected, recorded and then managed an artist. They were selected from hundreds of bands as the first artist on the AEMMP label.

On the strength of the AEMMP 12” Oh Boy! had the pleasure of playing every major club in Chicago land including backing up major acts like Translator, Rank and File, B.B. Spin, and the Elvis Brothers.
They then headlined at the Park West several times themselves.
The record received a great deal of airplay and was #1 on most college stations across the Chicago land area.
They were also inducted into the B96 Hall of Fame for the best dance single - summer of 1985.
